8 days...

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted. It's been kinda crazazy.

I found out last week that GI Joe is leaving for Afghanistan for 18 months. That's a fracking year and a half. He's also leaving on January 5th. On top of that his company is replacing the one out of NY that has had the most casualties in Afghanistan. Not only does he only have less than 90 days before he leaves, he still has to spend about 30 of those training. For example: he's leaving on Friday for 16 days. He'll be gone during his 40th birthday (yes, he's 10 years older than me). Now we can't even do the black cake. It wouldn't be as funny. Maybe my friend Laura : http://mylifeisapieceofcake.blogspot.com/ can come up with a good idea. She is a cake GENIUS. I'm a good cook, but my guy is better and gets annoyed when I try to help (tell him how to do it that is).

I've known that he was leaving. I just didn't know it would be this soon or for this long. I asked him last night if there was something I could wear of his every day while he was gone. He suggested his underwear. I suggested a pin or something. He said I could wear his sabers that go on his cavalry stetson.

I know I'm rambling. It's alot to take in.

We had a really good weekend. I'll be back tonight (hopefully unless I die from pilates) to post some pics of my family at the Zoo, Aquarium, and TGIFridays. I know you're dying to see the exciting pics so I'll do my best to get them up tonight.

We're living each day the best we can. I've even relinquished the tv privileges to him. Because I'm awesome like that.

Peace out peeps,

You are so sweet, and you know, I would bake him a cake if I could! I think you need to jump out of a cake for him before he leaves.

And you should wear his underpants. I love that idea.

You and your GI are in my thoughts...keep us posted.

Thanks Laura :)

If I had a nice bubble butt like yours I would. But really, who wants to see a pancake ass jump out of a cake?

I'll take the underpants under consideration. I haven't worn mens' underwear yet. Maybe I'll give it a test run.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear all this, Laurel! I know it must be hard to deal with and my thoughts and prayers are with you!

Take care and have a good evening - Kellan

Thanks Kellan. It's hard, but I'm certainly not the only one.

Oh, jeese, that's such a bummer. I can't even imagine. Enjoy your time together before he leaves. I will think good thoughts for him and the other men and women who, unselfishly, are on the front lines. No matter one's political views on this war, we are sooo lucky to have people like him. Hang in there!

He's not in favor of the war, just doing his job. He wants to bring his boys home.

hey there...

that is truly devastating news but he's lucky to have you support him and to come home to!

I don't know if he's lucky or cursed lol. I'm not the easiest person to live with (believe it or not), but neither is he.

We're both real and funny (I'm funnier), and we always make a point to have a good time together.

Lots of heart to hearts are going on. Believe that.

I figured he was going to the middle East. I'm sorry. That is so terrifying.
